Dan is a producer, cinematographer, and gimbal operator with a passion for visual storytelling, action sports and adventure. At the age of eight, Dan moved with his family from Detroit, Michigan to Paris, France. During his five years abroad he traveled across Europe sightseeing, skateboarding, skiing, and exploring European cultures. During his travels, Dan commandeered his family’s digital photography camera and camcorder, introducing him to the world of photography and cinematography at a young age.
Dan moved back from Paris at the age of fourteen, and began producing action sports videos around the Cincinnati area. After moving back to the U.S., Dan fell in love with the sport of freeskiing, mountain biking and skateboard and became a regular at Perfect North Slopes in Lawrenceburg, Indiana during is high school years, skiing 5 or 6 days a week. He began to produce videos highlighting the action sports/
Dan later pursued an education in Digital Cinema at Chicago’s DePaul University getting hands on experience in commercial, documentary and narrative films. DePaul’s College of Computing and Digital Media, ranked one of the top film schools in the nation, has a 8,500 square foot sound stage located at Cinespace Chicago, where Dan had full use of leading-edge cinematography and photography equipment to begin building his portfolio of work.
Living on the edge and dreaming of the next big adventure, Dan has always been passionate about traveling and action sports. He has been skateboarding, skiing and mountain biking since the age of 3 and doesn’t plan on quitting anytime soon. His passion for adventure mixes well with his filmmaking style as he's always aiming to push the boundaries of visual storytelling by creating dynamic shots that expand the limits of cinematography, technology and physical capability. In doing so he strives to create images that evoke emotion and excitement, surrounding the viewer within the action.
Dan now works as a freelance director, cinematographer, gimbal operator, and editor, throughout the U.S, and is Olympic Freeski Bronze Medalist, Nick Goepper’s, Personal Media Manager and cinematographer. When he’s not working on set or in the editing suite you can find him watching hockey or cruising around the local skateparks and ski resorts.
